A storm rolls in to Lake St Clair, as seen from the shoreline. About a minute before taking this photo, I had to dodge a Tiger Snake in the rocks on the lakes edge.

The most magical spot in Tasmania. A short hike through a wet cool climate rainforest, with rain misting constantly, led me to the most gorgeous, Nelson Falls. There were so many photo spots along the walk, however the photo I have decided to release is of the falls themselves. I climbed down under the viewing platform on the slippery moss covered rocks to get the exact perspective I wanted, and, while sheltering the lens from the windblown spray and the light misting rain, captured this image.

Deep in the Tarkine in the North West wilderness of Tasmania lies this nondescript sinkhole. Formed tens of thousands of years ago, the water is deep and very very dark.

Up high above Dove Lake, near Marion's lookout, this small alpine pool reflects Cradle Mountain in all it's glory. We didn't make the hike up to the top this time, but there is always another day....
$231.00
Whilst camped at Cradle Mountain, after a big day of hiking, we checked the weather, and discovered that this night was our only clear night for the next week. I was just resting when I received an Aurora alert for Tasmania! I checked outside and sure enough it was clear, so in a mad rush, I packed my photo gear, got dressed again and drove the truck carefully up to Dove Lake. I managed to avoid all of the wildlife on the way, and got up there right as the sky was lighting up.
It was 0 degrees, and as I jogged to the lakes edge, I remember asking myself why I did this to myself!
Luckily I persevered, and within minutes I was capturing this extremely rare sight, an Aurora Australis over Dove Lake, with Cradle Mountain in the background (and without clouds blocking it!)

A steep walk up a formed path leads you past Russell Falls below, and up to Horseshoe falls, in Mt Field National Park, in Tasmania's south. This place is ever changing, as trees fall over and make new obstacles to the flow.

We reached the top of Wineglass Bay, hoping for an amazing sunset, and as we climbed over the peak and and saw the amazing view, the clouds and rain started rolling across the bay from the far side. I scoped out the shot composition I wanted, packed the camera away in it's bag, and we settled into our raincoats jackets and umbrellas to wait out the storm and see if something unique could happen. After 20 minutes, we got a break in the clouds and the sunset poked through, allowing me this unique and interesting image, far from the normal blue waters of Wineglass Bay.

At the base of Saint Colomba Falls, this small spring feeds into the raging river. An oasis of mossy green, I felt so relaxed taking this image.

What a unique and stunning experience! An old Dam set up for Nickel mining, this was built in the 1940's, before it was decided it was uneconomical to keep. They cut a hole in the dam wall, where a mountain spring flows now, surrounded by lush rainforest.

This famous (among photographers) tree stands near the lookout at Binalong Bay. We were here late afternoon on a stormy day and waited and watched as the sunset came over.

At Binalong Bay for sunset, I explored down a small cliff and watched as the orange sunset light became brighter and brighter in the clouds and lit the scene.

Notley Gorge, in Northern Tasmania, sits on a remote backroad, well hidden from the passing tourist. A hike down into the gorge leads to this extremely impressive grove of Tree Ferns, with a boardwalk wending it's way through between. An extremely impressive creation of Nature that I was amazed to be able to capture.

Our first Tasmanian image, at a free camp near Evandale, on the north of the island. An epic sunset greeted us on our first night off the boat. The peaceful river gurgles along, with trout jumping out occasionally, and platypus swimming below.
