This small unnamed creek in the Dorrigo National Park crosses the path as you walk down to the Crystal Shower Falls. I wasn't satisfied with the image from the pathway, so scrambled very carefully down to this spot. I captured a very very different image looking downstream, and turned around to leave when I spotted this composition up stream, back towards the path. The stream cuts down through the forest.

We were walking through the high altitude forest up in WIld Cattle Creek State Forest when the weather started closing in. Amanda raced back to get our truck and bring it to the road near where we would finish the walk, and I was walking with Aria, our daughter. We crossed a small creek and reached this spot on the Mobong River. I spent about 10 minutes capturing different compositions when I started to feel raindrops on my shoulders.
Cursing the weather, I packed up quickly and headed off through the rainforest to the road to meet up with Amanda, all of us totally soaked as she drove up to pick us up.

I headed for a walk down the creek to see what I could find, and came across this magical spot where the water flows over this small rock ledge. This artwork was created in the Nundle State Forest, near Tamworth, NSW. I had only just said to Amanda that I wanted to go for a drive down one of the side tracks when some strangers came and asked us for help with getting their car out of a bit of trouble. The kind and adventurous people that we are, said of course. We were on our way back out of the forest and we came across this beautiful scene, I couldn't help but stop for the capture. I knew I wanted a vertical capture and once I climbed up to sit on the top of the truck I realised it wasn't in the right spot, so back down I climbed, directing Amanda to where the truck needed to be and back up I went - All in the name of a great capture!

Cows wander through their farm as the clouds above light up.
This extremely rare formation of clouds formed over Namingha, near Tamworth, NSW. We were in the middle of dinner at our caravan as we travel around Australia, when we spotted the cloud formation beginning to light up.
We abandoned dinner and jumped straight into our truck, determined to capture something with this epic formation. We drove out to a spot I had previously scouted and checked out, with an amazing gully and hill behind it.

A huge granite boulder sits on top of the hill, and a staircase and railings have been built next to it, providing an amazing place to view the valley from, and even free camp at.

I Raced down the track back to the truck, retrieved my camera and hurried back. I spent about 45 minutes capturing this amazing spot and ended up with two amazing images, a vertical composition, this one, and a landscape panorama image. The flow of the water down the stream calms me as it passes the vibrant green ferns on each side, as warm summer light filters through the trees above.

Sunset at Corindi Beach Point was magical this night. We were staying at the Reflections Caravan Park near Coffs Harbour, NSW where it is a short walk to the beach. Amanda convinced me to head out for sunset as the clouds were similar to the previous night where it unexpectedly lit up all around us while we were having dinner. I'm so glad she did as it was one of the most amazing sunsets we'd had in some time. I knew from swimming amongst the rockpools earlier that day that the water was a crystal clear blue so had already decided I wanted that in my artwork. After a great weekend photographing Autumn Colours in the Blue Mountains, Amanda and I were returning home, hoping to stop at a beach on the Central Coast for sunset on the way. (That was the plan at least!) We encountered heavy traffic transiting through North Western Sydney, and ended up stopping for an early dinner.
As we got onto the freeway, the sun was already on its last legs. I was resigned to not getting to shoot this particular sunset, which looked like it would be pretty amazing, lighting up several cloud banks and starting to go pink.
We were frantically trying to think of places close by that we could stop to shoot, when it hit me that we were coming up to the Brooklyn Bridge, on the Hawkesbury River. We turned off the freeway, headed onto the Old Pacific Highway and I made a frantic dash to the waters edge with the camera to setup the gear.
It was now that I discovered (of course) that I must have left my shutter remote actuator somewhere in Mt Wilson in the Mountains... Thankfully my camera has a time set mode that I frantically programmed to try and get the last of the colours being displayed.
I only just managed to pull it all together for this beautiful shot, featuring Spectacle Island as it sits on the Hawkesbury River, with the last of that amazing sunset lighting up the cloud bank behind, in this, one of the most easily and often seen (but least thought about) landscapes in the Hunter Region of NSW.

This image was created while on a spontaneous stop at Somersby Falls on the way home after spending the weekend in Sydney for Vivid. We had a bit of time before we had to be home and we hadn’t been to Somersby Falls in a number of years. We also knew with the recent rainfall the falls should have been flowing nicely. So, we decided to drop in.
I forgot to charge my batteries for my camera after being at Vivid the night before so I knew I didn’t have many shots left. I scouted the location back and forth looking for the composition I was imaging.
To get to this spot, I had to walk along the slippery rock edge and try not to get my shoes and socks soaked, climb up and perch myself on the edge of a boulder. I struggled to get my tripod to steady itself due to the legs needing to be at such different lengths and positions. The amount of water cascading was perfect for this long exposure and the shine on the tree trunk brings another element of life to the image. I love the varying colours, shapes and layers of the rock shelf which forms the waterfall.
We were the only ones here at this particular time and we felt a world away from any civilisation, which was such a contrast to the previous days in Sydney.

Gloucester Tops is an incredible location close by to the famous Barrington Tops National Park. You feel so far removed from everything, by the time you climb the ever twisting dirt road to the top of the mountain. Finding such a diverse range of natural environment here is a little surreal. One minute you are in a cloud ash forest, the next a lush tree fern lined stream, and the river up here is the icing on the cake.
So much water heading so quickly down, as it was blocked by this ancient tree that had fallen across the falls.

We had been waiting days and days for the right cloud formation to make this popular Maitland NSW view off the Belmore Bridge composition shine.
I had explored the area thoroughly and decided on this composition a few weeks ago, I loved the federation house looking out onto the river, and the curve of the river heading off into the distance.
We headed out a few times for photos of the composition when the cloud cover looked promising, but alas it was never quite right. Amanda strongly suggested that we head out again, despite my resistance (I didn't think it would be an epic sunset!) but we ended up heading out, for a walk along the levee if nothing else.
We got there just as the golden colours were starting, and I resumed my position on the Belmore Road bridge. The sunset was short and sweet, and the final picture showed a beautiful range of oranges, blues, greens and pinks. The mist off the river in the distance adds to the calm country feel of this river. It's a fair change from a few months ago during the drought when everything was brown and yellow.

It was a breezy winters afternoon when my family and I headed down to the Bogey Hole, Newcastle, intent on capturing its unique beauty for a fine art photograph. Neither Amanda or I had been here before, so it was an exciting new venture for us.
As we predicted, there was some interesting cloud cover, and we were hoping they would hang around in the right place and produce one of the elements for making a great sunset. I risked slipping over when climbing some wet mossy rocks, to test various different compositions, until I settled on the one I liked and could use for my creative piece I had in mind.
After the majority of the sunset had been, I quickly returned to the main platform which is just above the level of the water and grabbed this vertical shot. This was the second creation I imagined which shows the layers of both sky and water, as the last of the sun lit up the band of clouds.

- After being chased down the road by a dog, I retreated up this peaceful country laneway right in time for the sun to set fire to the clouds above.

Greg and Tarnya visited our Gallery in January as they had been looking to replace a canvas piece they had with something new and modern.

This was our third trip out to Merriwa, searching for the perfect Canola shot.
The rich brown earth of the region promotes Canola growth, and is even famous for it.
We drove just about every remote road out here searching, scouting for our upcoming fourth trip, when we came across this early season crop.
I set up and waited patiently for the clouds I could see in the distance to move into my composition. The clouds coming over were from a storm front we could see far away, something this extremely dry region hadn’t seen for a few months, could this shower bring just a small bit of relief for the farmers?
As the clouds started into my shot, they partially obscured the sun, allowing these sun beams to develop, highlighting the focal point of this image, the lone tree in the field, and leading your eye through towards the field of ripe Canola.
